About The Staff

NewSpring Studios is the tech­ni­cal dri­ving force of NewSpring Church in Wichita, KS. It is a group of pri­mar­ily vol­un­teers with a cou­ple staff mem­bers over­see­ing the whole crew.

Who are those staff members?

Luis Alicea – Technical Director

“I joined the NewSpring staff in February 2006, was ini­tially hired as a part-time IT Specialist. Working on the churches com­put­ers, net­works, and servers it was a fun time to really get to know the staff and how the church worked as a whole. I remem­ber my first expe­ri­ence with Lance, who really put me in my place…He was hav­ing issues with his lap­top and I came in explain­ing to him what had hap­pened and how he can pre­vent from it hap­pen­ing again, he quickly told “Hey…Hey…did we hire you to explain stuff away or to fix it?” then he smiled and I knew I didn’t like him…(laughing) just kid­ding he was a great guy! Soon after I was hired, Pastor Mark had a vision for the church and was just wait­ing for the right peo­ple, that sum­mer the cur­rent Technical Director (Dan Kubish) was announced to become the new Kids Pastor, there­fore I would assume all his respon­si­bil­i­ties. I remem­ber Dan would take me on car rides to Braum’s for cherry limades to talk about my future at the church, I felt like such a kid but it always brings a smile to my face. He went on one of those rides and he asked me if I knew any­thing about sound, I told him I’ve been learn­ing about sound since I was 16 and I’m fin­ish­ing up my Music Degree. After a cou­ple quick tests I was hired on full-time as the TD. Since then it’s been such an awe­some ride to see lives changed, vol­un­teers excited, and our tech­nol­ogy expand at NewSpring.”

Sarah Kubish – Video Specialist

“I grew up at NewSpring. My par­ents actu­ally started com­ing here right before I was born. It’s been really cool for me to see how God has used NewSpring over the past years and I’m glad I’ve got­ten to be a part of it. I started work­ing here in May 2004 as a sec­re­tary. In January of 2006 I was asked to fill in as Video Director, until they found some­one per­ma­nent, but after about 4 months of doing videos I knew this was what I wanted to do and NewSpring hired me on. I spent 2 weeks train­ing with the pre­vi­ous Video Director but every­thing else I’ve learned from exper­i­ment­ing or just look­ing at other videos for ideas. I really do love my job. “
